There’s nothing like NYC at Christmastime! “City Sidewalks. Busy sidewalks. Dressed in holiday style. In the air, there’s a feeling of Christmas….”. You get the idea! It’s iconic…from the huge Christmas Tree and Ice-skating at Rockefeller Square. Christmas Villages are set up everywhere around the city. Don’t miss the overly bougie store show windows. Not for the faint of heart…& it can be crowded. Know where you want to go/what you must-see! Pack for the cold, wind, rain or even snow!
Have a Plan ahead of time as NYC can be overwhelming….
Here is your guide to where to eat and what to do & see!

What are the Must-dos?
Where to eat??? So I must admit this is ALWAYS, ALWAYS a category in itself for me….& there are SO many great places to eat in NYC. Here are some of my favs:
TIP: Book restaurant reservations EARLY as Christmas in NYC is BUSY & the best places book waaay in advance.
Hungry?
- Eataly https://www.eataly.com/us_en/new-york-city–there are several of these splashed across the city….there’s likely one somewhat close by….this is the GRANDMOTHER of all things Italian to eat & it has Christmas-cheer galore! It’s like an Italian Christmas Market w/ all the things to eat! Several also have sit down restaurants that you can make a reservation. A reservation at SERRA by Birrera in the Flatiron Eataly https://www.eataly.com/us_en/stores/nyc-flatiron/restaurants/serra-by-birreria is a no-brainer. Otherwise you can eat but will likely have to wait for a table.
- Rolf’s https://rolfsnyc.com/ Snag a reservation here if you can as it is NYC’s Most Festive Restaurant.
- Go to Dominique Ansel Bakery (midtown or financial district) https://www.dominiqueanselny.com/ for pastries & I promise you will not be disappointed!
- Rosemary’s https://www.rosemarysnyc.com/ We went to the one in the West Village. It was great to walk this cute quintessential NYC neighborhood.
- Magic Hour, Pink AF Brunch https://moxytimessquare.com/blog/events/brunch-bubbles/ This is in the Moxy Hotel. I will not say it was the best food. BUT if you have little girls…this is something they won’t forget….

What to See/What to Do?
- See the largest Christmas tree ever at Rockefeller Square!! Go Ice-Skating while you are there!
- Go to 5th Avenue to see the Light Show & the most bougie Window Displays Ever!!
- Go to Time’s Square at Night!!
- Visit at least one of several Christmas Villages set up across the city. There are villages set up in Central Park, Bryant Park, Grand Central, Union Square…just to name a few.
- Go to Brooklyn for the Dyker Heights Christmas Display. You can drive or walk through.
- Go to Central Park for a Carriage Ride, the Central Park Carousal, Ice Skating &/or the Christmas Village
- Google “NYC pop-ups”….we visited the Balloon Museum which was awesome but is now closed. There was also a Gingerbread House show that was really cool and over-the-top.
