How I got here? 2 Surgeries in 4 months.
I find myself here after having 2 surgeries in a 4 month timespan. It’s a lot on a body.
FIRST SURGERY:
The first was a double mastectomy or removal of both breasts and the insertion of Tissue Expanders (a device inserted during a mastectomy to prepare the body for breast reconstruction, implants, at a later date). The Tissue Expander process requires you to slowly stretch your skin & muscles (if they are inserted under the muscle, mine were) but is not comfortable. You are living with a foreign object in your body and then subjecting yourself to weekly expansions of saline through a port in the expander.
SECOND SURGERY:
The second surgery the final surgery (hopefully!) involves removing the tissue expander and inserting your breast implants. I also had some indentations and irregularities that required fat injection (tissue grafting) to enhance the breast and make it look more natural. I’m not going to go into all of this now…this isn’t what this is about. But, believe me when I say….It was A LOT!
What is Perfection?
Striving For Perfection….this sounds good on the surface, right? Don’t we want our kids to do & be their best…shouldn’t we strive to be our best. Well, Yes, AND NO!
First of all, what even is Perfection??? It’s not objective, it’s subjective. Poll 10 people…you may get 10 different answers.
What is Perfection to you?
Definition: noun
the condition, state, or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or defects.

What are “Perfect Breasts”?
What do the perfect breasts look like? It depends….right! Everyone has their own opinion AND just like fashion, body styles go in & out of fashion. Right now, everyone’s is having their BBLs (Brazilian Butt Lifts) removed. (I think, Thank God!)….But, who knows what will be next. The Yoga Boob is in now (a much smaller breast) compared to the Pamela Anderson boobs of the 80s and 90s. I don’t have either…
Body styles in fashion have evolved significantly across decades, influenced by societal norms, cultural shifts, and technological advancements. From the 1920s flapper style to the 1950s hourglass figure and the 2010s’ focus on athleisure, each decade has shaped beauty standards and clothing styles.
Insurance will pay for me to have up to 2 revision surgeries for my breasts. They are not perfect…but what is? The first thing my cosmetic surgeon told me while consulting on having these surgeries is….You are not getting a free Boob Job. It is not the same. You are losing all your breast tissue (and sometimes your nipples) and then have to rebuild your breasts artificially. It is not the same as going in for a Boob Job as you keep your god-given breasts in this scenario. It is a HUGE misconception that people have…that you are getting the “perfect breasts” or “a free boob job”.
Back to polling 10 people & asked them what the perfect breasts look like…you’ll get a lot of different answers.
Back to What Is Most Important: Your Health

5 weeks after surgery after a trip to Mexico where I saw photos and thought of ways I could improve my breasts (little tweaks here & there), I got really sick. I felt sicker and more run down than I had in all my surgeries and I couldn’t shake it! I even went down the wormhole that my body was rejecting my breast implants….I would have to have another surgery to have them removed. There are a small percentage of women who become sick from implants and ultimately have to have them removed. Needless to say I was releived when I started to feel better 6 days later (I think it was Norovirus, BTW…HORRIBLE).
This experience bought everything back, full circle….My Health is Most Important. If you don’t have your health, You Have Nothing….My Body had spoken to me.
Love Your Body

It’s easy to fall into the trap of tweaking this & tweaking that…I find myself looking at them every day when I shower and evaluating….what could I change? But, I realize it could be a never-ending cycle….where does it stop? We’ve all seen the women who has had 26 plastic surgeries…it happens.
BUT, back to point…I find myself at a cross roads where I could continue “striving for perfection” but have decided that perfection doesn’t exist and to stay where I am. My body has been through enough….I grateful for it and have decided to Love It instead.
W/ Gratitude To My Body
What experiences like this have you had?
XOXO
Kelli
